Everyone has a life story. Some stories are happy and some are very sad and challenging.
Some children have healthy support systems with one or two relatively healthy adults who raise them, and many do not. Some people lacked good parenting and some experienced poor to neglectful or abusive parenting. Many people had close family ties and many were not allowed to form close bonds and attachments, even with their siblings, due to addictive family dynamics. Resilience formed in some people, and in others life became very difficult at a young age and forward.
Some children had good support systems and access to quality medical care and educational opportunities. Many children did not have ideal circumstances growing up with their support systems, medical care, or educational opportunities.
Different life circumstances, including parenting, health, nurturing, education, support systems, loss, attachment and abandonment issues and perhaps trauma all culminate to form who we become as adults; each unique and individual. Each person forms their worldview through the lens of how they are raised, conditioned to react, and what they learned.
Your worldview determines how you look at your world and the people in it. Often it predicts how you interact with your peers and family. Some people were not given the luxury of healthy interactions with family and experience a loss of intimacy with others.
Whatever your life story, therapy can help work through the past to move you to a more rewarding present and give you an opportunity to make healthier choices. I would like to hear your story and help you gain more flexibility and freedom of choice in the present.
